We sit at desks all day, everyday. Meanwhile heart disease, stress, obesity and a host of other chronic conditions plague our society like never before. It’s time to start a “movement” for more movement at work!

Beyond physical benefits, a host of mental wellbeing benefits follow from getting up and moving more throughout the day. Walking improves creativity and regular exercise regulates stress and sleep. In fact, research shows that people even share more ideas when walking because their bodies are “amped.”

It makes sense that companies like Google use “conference bikes” to keep their employees moving. It improves their productivity and mental wellbeing as well, making it a win-win for all. Make both wellness and work fun by inspiring your employees to move more to boost not just their health, but also performance, sleep and relationships.

Laura Putnam, MA, author of Workplace Wellness That Works (WILEY, 2015), is CEO and founder of Motion Infusion. Her work has been covered by MSNBC, The New York Times, US News & World Report, Entrepreneur, Business Insider, and NPR. She is a former urban public high school teacher, international community organizer, dancer, gymnast and now a movement-builder in the world of health and wellness. With a mission to get organizations “in motion,” Laura is a frequent keynote speaker and has worked with a range of organizations from Fortune 500s to government agencies to academic institutes and nonprofits. She is the recipient of the American Heart Association's "2020 Impact" award as well as the National Wellness Institute’s “Circle of Leadership” award.

About Justin Keller

Justin is the Sr. Marketing Director at Whil Concepts, Inc. (“Whil”). He's spent the last thirteen years doing high-tech marketing for everything from early stage startups to enterprises while avocationally practicing mindfulness. When he's not doing marketing things, he's an active musician, aspiring chef, and a connoisseur of both whiskey and root beer. He has three undergrad degrees from Indiana University and an MBA from Purdue University. He resides in Oakland with his wife and dog.
